Quick Reference Guide
Suspension Systems
Suspension systems are responsible for keeping the tub balanced while the tub is in motion.
Indications of Failure:
- Tub banging around during spin.
- Off balance error codes.
Testing
- Push down on each corner of the tub where a suspension rod is. If any particular rod has a bit more bounce, then all the suspension rods should be replaced.
- Push down the whole tub, allow it to spring back. It should come right back to place. No additional bouncing.
Another Thing to Watch Out For
When the customer is experiencing an “Out of Balance” issue, another common issue is if the tub locking nut is failing. You can check for this being an issue by seeing if the inner tub has any “play” with regard to the outer tub. Grab the inner tub, try to shift it left and right. If you’re getting motion, you’ve likely got a bad hub. (Keep in mind, some unit have floating tubs, so this will not work.)
