Gas & Electric Safety

Ovens are dangerous if you guess. To safely learn oven repair, you need strict engineering protocols to handle high voltage electricity and combustible gas without putting your customer at risk.

🔥

Gas Ignition Logic

Why does the igniter glow but the gas won’t flow? We teach the Series Circuit Theory regarding amperage and bi-metal gas valves. You’ll learn why “brightness” is a lie and amperage is the truth.

240V Electric Theory

Understanding L1 and L2 is critical. Learn to diagnose broken bake elements, burnt infinite switches, and open thermal limits safely. We show you how to identify a “lost leg” of power instantly.

🎛️

Control Board Logic

Modern ovens rely on complex decision making. We teach you how the computer uses sensor inputs (RTD probes) to make decisions, so you can understand the underlying theory rather than just guessing and swapping boards.

Circuit Fundamentals

Interpreting Your Meter

Knowing the definition of “amps” and “volts” means nothing unless you understand what they actually constitute in a live circuit. We teach you how to understand what your meter is actually telling you so you don’t get lost when you see “funky voltages” (ghost voltage) and start throwing parts at it.

The 3.2 Amp Rule: This is the cornerstone of gas oven repair. We teach you how the safety valve physically requires a specific amount of current to warp the internal bi-metal strip. You will learn to prove a weak igniter in seconds using an Amp Clamp.

Electrical Analysis

Tracing The Schematic

Range schematics can look like a maze to the untrained eye. We simplify them. You will learn to trace the path from the terminal block to the Infinite Switch and through the element, verifying continuity and voltage drops.

If you want to learn oven repair efficiently, you must stop “ohm-ing” everything out and start performing Voltage Drop tests. We teach you how to test a live circuit under load to find the high-resistance connections that other technicians miss.

Oven Repair Training FAQ

Is working on gas ovens dangerous?
It is only dangerous if you don’t know the rules. We teach you the strict safety protocols for gas leak detection, pressure testing, and proper ventilation so you can work on gas units just as safely as electric ones. If you want to learn oven repair safely, safety protocols must be step one.
Do I need an Amp Clamp?
While not strictly “required” by law, arriving to a service call without one puts you at a severe disadvantage. Without an Amp Clamp, you cannot accurately diagnose weak glowbars or safety valve failures, meaning you are just guessing. We teach you to use the right tools to guarantee your diagnosis.
What brands does this cover?
We focus on “Universal Theory.” Once you understand the glowbar ignition system of a Whirlpool, you can apply that same logic to Samsung, LG, GE, and Maytag ovens. The physics of heat don’t change between brands.
